What is RMRK?
This digital asset powers a novel NFT infrastructure built on the Kusama and Polkadot blockchains. Its core innovation lies in its fungible and non-fungible token (NFT) standards, allowing for advanced functionalities like nested NFTs, NFTs that can own other NFTs, and a system for managing NFTs and their associated metadata directly on-chain. This eliminates the need for off-chain storage and complex smart contract logic for basic NFT operations. The project aims to solve the limitations of current NFT standards, which often treat NFTs as simple, static assets. By enabling dynamic and composable NFTs, it unlocks new possibilities for digital ownership, gaming, and decentralized applications. It utilizes a Nominated Proof-of-Stake (NPoS) consensus mechanism, inherited from its parent blockchains, ensuring network security and decentralization.
